When selecting a pacifier it’s important to consider the nipple shape for the baby’s orthotic development, as well as the holes in the pacifier shield for increased air circulation. Individuals with decreased hand function may need to select a pacifier with a loop or attach a pacifier clip for easier manipulation. We recommend testing a variety of brands to determine which design is easiest to use. However, this decision should not be solely based on the parent’s abilities, but child’s pacifier preference may also need to be taken into consideration.
